Tom Tiffany “Possibly” in Favor of Payouts to J6 Insurrectionists

By - May 27th, 2026 12:41 pm

MADISON, Wis. — Yesterday, Tom Tiffany said defendants convicted in the violent January 6th attacks on the Capitol could “possibly” be owed restitution in the form of taxpayer-funded payouts from the federal government.

“As if it weren’t enough to deny the results of the 2020 election and work to overturn it, Tom Tiffany is now open to sending taxpayer-funded payouts to insurrectionists involved in the violent attacks that attempted to overturn the results of a free and fair election,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Emily Stuckey. “Tiffany demonstrates again and again that he is a dyed-in-the-wool MAGA extremist who has no respect for the will of Wisconsin voters.”

While Tiffany is “still studying the details” of the deal, his record shows he has long been in support of the insurrectionists. Hours after the January 6th attacks on the Capitol that led to the deaths of law enforcement officers, Tiffany voted to overturn Joe Biden’s victories in Pennsylvania and Arizona.
