Milwaukee (April 20, 2026)Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) is pleased to welcome Brian E. Wojcik as Chief Operations Officer.

He brings more than 20 years of leadership experience across public transportation, public safety, and financial services to his role as Chief Operations Officer (COO). Most recently serving as Senior Manager of Bus Operations at the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Brian oversaw a workforce of more than 600 employees across dozens of bus routes, managing regulatory compliance, labor relations, budget oversight, and service delivery.

His career at CTA spans roles from Bus Operator to Senior Manager, reflecting a consistent record of growth and hands-on operational leadership within one of the nation’s largest transit systems. Prior to joining CTA, Brian served for a decade as a police officer and held a licensed financial advisory role at Prudential Financial, a background that has shaped his disciplined, service-oriented approach to leadership.

Outside of his professional life, Brian is a devoted husband, proud father of three, and an avid car enthusiast. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Benedictine University and has completed leadership development programs at DePaul University and FEMA Incident Command Systems training. Brian is committed to building strong teams, fostering community partnerships, and driving operational excellence in his new role.

“We are excited to welcome Brian to MCTS and bring his wealth of knowledge and operational leadership experience to Milwaukee County,” said MCTS President & CEO Steve Fuentes. “At the same time, we extend our deepest appreciation to Kevin Pumphrey for his 28 years of dedicated service as COO and beyond. Kevin’s deep institutional knowledge and history with MCTS have made him an invaluable asset, and he will be greatly missed.”

Brian succeeds Kevin Pumphrey, who is retiring after 28 years of service to MCTS. Kevin has served in a wide range of roles during his time, including Bus Operator, Cleaner Tanker, Extra Clerk, Fond du Lac Station Administrative Assistant, Coordinator of Station Operations, Assistant Director of Transportation, Director of Transportation, and COO. This progression reflects a deep understanding of the organization from the ground up. Having grown up using transit and understanding its impact on communities, Kevin took great pride in helping deliver service throughout his career.

Brian’s first day at MCTS will be Monday, April 27. The two leaders will work together for a transitional period over the next month.
