NWSCDC Celebrates First Choice Personal Care Services’ New Headquarters

Northwest Side Community Development Corporation (NWSCDC) is honored to announce the Grand Opening of a new headquarters for First Choice Personal Care Services (First Choice PCS), an in-home non-medical care service provider. Owner, Shamekka Jones-Ashford, began the business in 2018 with a vision for enhancing personalized home care. With extensive knowledge and experience in the healthcare industry as a Registered Nurse, Jones-Ashford is passionate about reducing the return rate individuals experience after leaving the hospital. The business provides a variety of compassionate care options: personal care for loved ones, Alzheimer’s and Dementia care, hourly care, 24-hour and live-in care, respite care and homekeeping. On April 10th, First Choice PCS invites nearby neighbors, community stakeholders and the general public to join them for a Grand Opening event. Tours of the building will begin at 11:30am, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:30pm.

Situated on Milwaukee’s North West Side in the Saint Joseph neighborhood, the business is located at 3090 N 53rd Street. This is the first commercial building First Choice PCS has owned, marking a significant milestone for the business. Interior improvements completed after the building was purchased include the buildout of a lab space, new flooring, updated lighting, fresh interior paint, upgraded bathrooms and a gym space. The first floor of the building includes administrative offices and client intake spaces. There are multiple offices currently available to rent, which include free wifi and access to the gym for tenants. On the second floor of the building is Jones Professional Health Services (JPHS), which includes two classrooms and a staged hospital room setting for training purposes. JPHS specializes in teaching CBRF, CPR, and CNA training, which lead to well paying career routes for its students in the future.

At the core of all that First Choice PCS does is an unwavering dedication to serving others. “Caring for clients in their homes is not just about providing services; it’s about nurturing a bond that transforms lives, bringing compassion and dignity to every home,” said founder and owner Shamekka Jones-Ashford, RN. “We believe that creating a team of caring professionals whose goal is the care and support of our clients while creating strong partnerships with their families, and community leaders is what drives me.”

As a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), NWSCDC is committed to supporting local businesses like First Choice Personal Care Services, who are focused on actively serving Milwaukee residents by expanding resources throughout the city. First Choice Personal Care Services makes this high quality care accessible to residents throughout Milwaukee County, in addition to creating eight full-time family sustaining jobs. NWSCDC is honored to help support First Choice PCS scale its operations through our small business lending program”, said NWSCDC Executive Director, Willie Smith.
