Brewers Acquire Right-Handed Pitcher Jake Woodford From Rays

Send Right-Handed Pitcher K.C. Hunt and Cash to Tampa Bay

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired right-handed pitcher Jake Woodford from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for right-handed pitcher K.C. Hunt and cash. In a corresponding move, outfielder Akil Baddoo was transferred to the 60-day injured list. The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Matt Arnold.

Woodford, 29, has pitched in the Major Leagues with St. Louis (2020-23), Chicago-AL (2024), Pittsburgh (2024) and Arizona (2025). He has made 111 career appearances with 25 starts and 86 outings in relief. He was selected by St. Louis in the supplemental first round (39th overall) of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft from Plant (FL) High School. Woodford was a non-roster invitee with Tampa Bay this Spring Training.

Hunt, 25, signed with Milwaukee as a non-drafted free agent out of Mississippi State University in 2023. He went 15-12 with a 3.36 ERA and 1 save in 55 games (40 starts) in the organization and was named Brewers Co-Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2024 while pitching at Class-A Carolina, Class-A Wisconsin and Double-A Biloxi.
