Governor Evers Approves WIS 190 Resurfacing and Improvement Project in Waukesha and Milwaukee Counties

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers has approved a $11.5 million resurfacing and improvement project along approximately 4.3 miles of WIS 190 (Capitol Drive), between Brookfield Road and 124th Street, in Waukesha and Milwaukee Counties. Payne and Dolan is the prime contractor for the project. Construction is scheduled to begin the week of March 30.

Improvements include:

  • Resurface WIS 190 (Capitol Drive) within project limits
  • Base patching and joint repairs
  • Update pedestrian curb ramps within project limits to meet ADA standards
  • Install new traffic signal detection loops and traffic cameras at signalized intersections
  • Repair culvert under WIS 190 (Capitol Drive) near 138th Street

Traffic Impacts:

Two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained during peak travel times, reducing to one lane overnight and on weekends Short-term closures of side streets during milling and paving operations are anticipated. Access to local businesses and residences will be maintained.

Work is scheduled for completion in fall 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
