David Crowley Calls Out Trump Administration for Denial of Federal Disaster Aid for Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE – In response to the Trump administration denying Wisconsin’s request for federal assistance to repair public infrastructure after last summer’s historic flooding, County Executive David Crowley issued the following statement:

“The Trump administration’s decision to deny Wisconsin federal disaster relief — twice — means tens of millions of dollars in repairs will now be pushed onto Wisconsin taxpayers. Roads families rely on to get to work and school, parks and public spaces that anchor neighborhoods, and infrastructure that supports local economies remains damaged, with no federal support coming to help.

My administration coordinated emergency response efforts after the historic flooding, working alongside municipalities and first responders, assessing damage in real time, and partnering with state and federal agencies to ensure residents could access assistance.

Leadership is about showing up in moments of crisis. My administration showed up. The State of Wisconsin showed up. The Trump administration did not. And both times Wisconsin was denied disaster aid, Tom Tiffany remained silent.

Tom Tiffany is Donald Trump’s hand-picked choice for governor. If this is the kind of leadership he supports — denying disaster for communities across our state — then it’s clear he stands with Donald Trump, not Wisconsin families.”
