Report leaf piles to help make sure they will be cleaned up
Statement from Alderman Lamont Westmoreland December 18, 2025
Over the past several weeks, my office has received many complaints and concerns regarding leaf collection, and I’m happy to announce that leaf collection of large piles has resumed this week.
Currently, the Department of Public Works (DPW) has more than 400 leaf pile locations documented across the city. In addition to those documented locations, residents are continuing to report piles, which are cross-referenced, reviewed in the field, and added to the collection list when appropriate. While DPW works to document all large piles, there is always room for error and some piles may not yet be accounted for. For that reason, resident reporting is strongly encouraged to ensure no eligible locations are missed.
Very large piles will be prioritized for collection.
Residents may submit a request to make sure a pile is included. If a location is not currently on the collection list, DPW will assess the site for possible collection. Requests can be placed online at www.milwaukee.gov/leaves or by calling 414-286-CITY.
As always, residents are also welcome to reach out directly to their District Alderperson’s office with any questions or concerns.
Additionally, per DPW leadership, there is an intent to offer an early spring 2026 leaf rake-out opportunity to collect any remaining leaves from fall 2025.NOTE: This press release was submitted to Urban Milwaukee and was not written by an Urban Milwaukee writer.
