MILWAUKEE–This week, State Representative Supreme Moore Omokunde (D-Milwaukee) alongside other state Democratic lawmakers and leading social justice and business interest groups, unveiled new legislation to hold the Legislature accountable to the needs of working families in Wisconsin. If passed, the Paid Family Medical Leave Act will create a family and medical leave insurance program. Representative Supreme Moore Omokunde made the following statement:

“Wisconsin is in an affordability crisis, from record high insurance costs to a lack of reasonable, affordable healthcare plans. We cannot stand idly by as our neighbors fall behind on rent and utility payments. This is why The Paid Family Medical Leave Act is so important: it creates a long-term, family-centered safety net that gives hard-working Wisconsin families a hand up.

I encourage my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to join us—let’s pass the Paid Family Medical Leave Act so that the families of Wisconsin can get the help they need and deserve.”

Representative Moore Omokunde represents the 17th Assembly District on the North and Northwest sides of Milwaukee.
