#MUBB Drops 75-74 Decision To Oklahoma In Chicago

Freshman guard Nigel James Jr. finishes with 14 points

By - Nov 28th, 2025 03:13 pm

The Marquette University men’s basketball team (4-4, 0-0 BIG EAST) continued non-conference play with a 75-74 loss against Oklahoma (5-2, 0-0 SEC) on Friday afternoon at Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago.

Senior guard Chase Ross led the way with 21 points and added five rebounds and three assists. Freshman guard Nigel James Jr. scored a personal-high 21 points and sophomore forward Royce Parham chipped in a season-high 13 points off the bench.

Marquette pushed the four-point intermission advantage to double figures (48-37) in the opening minutes of the second half, courtesy of Ross’ offensive burst. The Sooners, however, responded for the second time and used an extended MU scoring drought to take a 55-52 lead with 7:16 left. The Sooners would eventually pull ahead 69-62 with 3:37 on the clock, but a trey by Ross tied the score at 72-72 with 58 seconds remaining. Trailing 75-74 with 17.9 seconds after a Sooners’ turnover, MU saw its shot at the buzzer go off target and the late rally fell just short.

The Golden Eagles led by as many as 13 points in the first half and 37-33 at the intermission. MU used an early 8-0 run to move ahead and never trailed over the course of the opening 20 minutes, but the Sooners closed the stanza with a 9-0 run over the last five minutes to close the gap.

UP NEXT: The Golden Eagles conclude the home portion of the non-conference schedule on Tuesday, Dec. 2 when the team hosts Valparaiso at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
