$25K reward now offered for arrest of suspect in Marquis Champion homicide
Statement of Alderman Mark Chambers, Jr. November 5, 2025
Today, Crime Stoppers announced a $25,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect in the October 20 homicide of my nephew, Marquis Champion. Marquis, who was 16, was taken from us in a senseless act of violence during a triple shooting near 79th and Hampton. The suspect, Martell D. Haire, shot two other young men who were with Marquis that night, but thankfully they survived and are recovering from their injuries.
As our family prepares for my nephew’s funeral and burial, we again ask for privacy and prayers, and we continue praying for the full recovery of the two young men who were injured that night.
Haire was charged by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office with one count of First-Degree Reckless Homicide, Use of a Dangerous Weapon, two counts of First-Degree Reckless Injury, Use of a Dangerous Weapon, one count of First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Use of a Dangerous Weapon and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. If convicted, he could face 141 years, 6 months in prison and fined up to $250,000.
We MUST bring Haire to justice, and I am again asking for the public’s help in locating him. If you have information that could lead the authorities to Haire, please contact Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-Tips or P3 Tips. As always, you can also contact Milwaukee Police at (414) 935-7360.
I want to sincerely thank Crime Stoppers and Hupy and Abraham for the generous reward to help find my nephew’s killer. I am hopeful that it can lead to justice for Marquis.
