GOP Gov Candidate Choses Tariffs Over Farmers

MADISON, Wis. — As soybean farmers across the state continue to grapple with the long-term effects of the GOP’s Tariff Taxes, Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany cannot even bring himself to denounce the policies that are crushing Wisconsin farmers and families. Wisconsin soybean farmers have begun raising alarm bells as their relationships with Chinese buyers continue to sour due to the Tariff Tax, expressing concern about the long-term damage these trade wars are causing and that they may be losing their markets forever.

When Tariff Lover Tom was asked about these concerns, he completely dodged the question, shifting all the blame onto China.

HOST [00:02:23] Meanwhile, the other concern, however, is soybean growers who have said this to me, corn growers have said this to me, I’ve even had some dairy folks that have said this to me: What about the potential lost market? These relationships we’ve spent years and years and years building. We may lose these markets permanently. And so, yeah, we may have a trade agreement, but in the case of soybeans, we may lose all of that, or even more of that, to Argentina and Brazil. Isn’t there a concern about that?

TOM TIFFANY [00:02:51] There’s certainly a concern about that. And- but I think- remember the big player in this is China, and China is trying to bring America to its knees. Their goal is world hegemony. They want to control the 21st Century, and they are using farmers right now as a pawn in the game. And we need to stay the course to a certain extent in regards to China, and make sure that they are good actors, and that they are buying some of America’s soybeans, because China should be doing that, and China’s got enough problems at this point that I’m not so sure they should just be messing around with our trade policy.

“Tariff Lover Tom Tiffany refuses to see the pain his tariff tax policies are causing to farmers, and he would keep ignoring them as governor. Maybe it’s because he’s so desperate for Trump’s endorsement that he won’t risk hurting delicate Donald’s feelings — but Wisconsinites deserve leaders who are willing to say the hard truths, and that’s clearly not Tariff Tom.”
