Echoes of Hope – Concord Chamber Orchestra to Perform at the Milwaukee County Historical Society

September 10, 2025 – The Milwaukee County Historical Society (MCHS), in partnership with Violins of Hope – Wisconsin, presented by Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO), is honored to present Echoes of Hope: Concord Chamber Orchestra at the MCHS on Thursday, September 25, 2025. This special evening of music and reflection will take place at the MCHS, 910 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Milwaukee, in conjunction with the exhibit Strings of Survival: Violins of Hope (on view now through October 11, 2025). The Concord Chamber Orchestra will perform an hour-long program beginning at 6:00 p.m., preceded by doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Talkbacks with the musicians will take place between each piece, a talkback with the musicians will offer audiences deeper insight into the music, the instruments, and the stories they carry. Guests are encouraged to explore the Strings of Survival exhibit after the concert from 7:00 to 8:00pm. A cash/credit bar will be available. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for MCHS members. Seating is limited, and advance purchase is encouraged through our website. The Violins of Hope collection includes violins, violas, and cellos restored by Israeli violinmakers Amnon and Avshi Weinstein. Once silenced by the Holocaust, these instruments now travel the world, giving voice to stories of survival and resistance while educating communities about the enduring role of music in the face of unimaginable hardship.

Violins of Hope is a collection of instruments that once belonged to Jewish musicians before and during the Holocaust. Restored to playing condition, the instruments now serve as voices of remembrance and resilience, traveling worldwide through concerts and exhibitions to educate about the Holocaust and inspire future generations.
