Statement from Alderman Lamont Westmoreland September 17, 2025
Over the summer, it came to my attention that, without my knowledge, some constituent emails had been flagged as potential security threats and placed into a quarantined folder of undelivered items on the City server that we were unable to view or access.
While the exact number of emails lost to this issue appears to be very limited in scope, constituent communication and responsiveness is something my office takes extremely seriously, and even a single missed email is one too many.
If any of my constituents emailed my office in recent months and did not received a response within 24 hours (the turnaround time we aim for), please call us or re-send your email so we can assist. And in the future if you don’t receive a response via email within a day, ALWAYS follow up with a phone call so we can get to work serving you.
