Metcalfe Park to Celebrate New Community Fridge with Ribbon Cutting at Tricklebee Café

The community fridge, funded through a One MKE community grant, will be filled with donations of fresh produce and healthy food items donated from local farms, organizations and community members. It will be free for anyone in need during the café’s open hours. The project aims to provide immediate food access while inspiring future long-term community solutions. With the hope to be used as a template for a sustainable community fridge in other neighborhoods.

● Ribbon cutting ceremony led by of Metcalfe Park Community Melody McCurtis Bridges and Christie Melby-Gibbons of Tricklebee Cafe
● Community donation drive to fill the fridge on day one
● Family-friendly art station where kids and neighbors can create a “Community-Powered Fridge” sign to be displayed at the café

“This fridge is more than just an appliance — it’s a symbol of what we can accomplish when we come together,” said [community/city leader/café personnel]. “We want this to be a place that is powered by and for the community; where neighbors care for neighbors.”

Media are invited to attend, photograph, and interview community leaders, organizers, and attendees. All attendees are encouraged to bring a food donation to help stuff the fridge.
