Rep. Fitzgerald Statement on the Passage of the Senate Amendment to H.R. 1 – One Big Beautiful Bill Act
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) issued the following statement in response to the passage of the Senate Amendment to H.R. 1 – One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
“Just in time for the Fourth of July, we’re sending the final version of the One Big Beautiful Bill to President Trump’s desk and delivering on the conservative agenda we promised the American people.
“It also restores integrity to Medicaid by ending fraud and abuse—protecting benefits for the most vulnerable. It also fully funds President Trump’s border wall and increases staffing for ICE and Border Patrol. This helps restore law and order at our southern border and keeps our communities safe.
“From putting more money in the pockets of hard-working Americans to making our national security a top priority, this legislation puts the needs of Americans first. I’m proud to have supported it from the start and look forward to President Trump signing it into law.”

A pundit once said that people believe lies because they want to believe them. Or, as George Costanza of “Seinfeld” said, “It’s not a lie if I believe it.” I believe I counted 9 lies in Fitzgerald’s just four short paragraphs.
For Trump and the Republican cult that have now achieved their ultimate goal, lies have been the essential fuel that, with this legislation, have now driven the country over the edge. Those lies, among many others: that white people are being persecuted and “replaced” by lesser races; that a failed businessman, extreme narcissist, sexual predator and pathological liar is the only person who can save the country; that “migrants” have “invaded” the country, and that any cruelty directed at them, including family destruction and sending people – without due process of law – to death camps in El Salvador, Libya and South Sudan is normal and acceptable; that transgender athletes are undermining American sports and destroying the lives of innocent girls; that government not controlled by Trump is the enemy, never to be trusted; and that climate change is a hoax and science and expertise are bull****, and that coal is the answer to our non-existent energy crisis.
As a mindless cypher and opportunist, Fitzgerald and the entire Wisconsin House delegation, along with Senator Johnson, have all gone along with the program. Although there are going to be dire consequences for many Wisconsin citizens and future generations, Fitzgerald and his colleagues cannot, in their socially isolated, plutocrat dominated world, imagine any for themselves. They also assume that, based on experience, people have short memories, and that the Democrats are pathetic wimps who won’t seek “retribution” for what they have done. When the dimensions of this disaster’s consequences become clear, it is very likely that the Fitzgerald press release messages will be: “Let’s not dwell on the past”; “Let’s move forward,” and, ‘Donald who?”
Or alternatively, that we have seen our last free election, and that this pathetic crew, Fitzgerald, Johnson, Grothman, Tiffany, Stiel, Wied and Van Orden will all have guaranteed lifetime employment. And, Wisconsin will become a national model for permanent plutocratic, white supremacist rule. As Tolstoy said, “There are no conditions to which people cannot become accustomed, especially if they see everyone around them living in the same way.” After all, lots of people in the world have gotten used to living in non-democracies and being governed by the Trumps and Fitzgeralds of the world. Look at Trump’s global role models: Hungary, Russia, Argentina.
DOn’t forget how wealthy members of congress mysteriously become.
RoJo doubled his family wealth in a mere two terms I believe.
This abomination of a bill will kill people and enrich the bums in congress.
