DNR Launches The Environmental Responsibility Navigator
New Tool Helps Small Businesses With Environmental Compliance
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), in honor of National Small Business Week, today launched the new Environmental Responsibility Navigator (Enviro-Nav) to help small businesses with environmental compliance.
This tool, which was funded through the 2023-2025 state budget, provides a one-stop shop for businesses to easily understand the environmental requirements that apply to them, including those related to air pollution, water use/discharge and waste generation.
All types of businesses can benefit from the information offered in Enviro-Nav, and there is also customized information for a number of Wisconsin’s common business sectors, such as auto body repair, gasoline dispensing, grain handling, printing, wood products and many more. Even local governments may find the tool helpful in evaluating compliance with state rules.
“Enviro-Nav is a win-win for the environment and Wisconsin’s economy,” said DNR Secretary Karen Hyun. “Environmental compliance is an essential component of a thriving business, and I encourage any business seeking assistance with environmental requirements to take advantage of this new resource.”
Enviro-Nav is administered by the DNR’s Small Business Environmental Assistance Program, which offers plain language information and one-on-one support to the small business community at no cost to help them comply with environmental requirements.
Small Business Environmental Assistance Program resources are sorted by industry or specific process and by environmental topic and help businesses save time and money while promoting environmental protection. Whether purchasing a new property, expanding a small business or in need of help understanding how the DNR’s rules apply, the Small Business Environmental Assistance Program has assistance available that can help make sure you are doing the right thing for your business and the environment. Identifying, measuring and managing environmental impacts can bring tangible business value to businesses of all sizes.
