Brittany Kinser’s Latest Performance Raises Alarms: No Plans, No Answers, No Clue
MILWAUKEE— At an appearance in Milwaukee yesterday, lobbyist Brittany Kinser showed Wisconsin voters exactly why she’s not ready to lead our state’s public schools: she doesn’t have a plan, she doesn’t have the answers, and she made it clear – she doesn’t know how public education in Wisconsin works.
Here’s what Kinser didn’t know yesterday:
- She said she doesn’t know if the governor’s education budget request was right or wrong.
- She doesn’t know if relying less on referendums and fully funding schools would impact local control.
- She doesn’t know if we rely too heavily on property taxes to fund schools because she’s “not an expert.”
- She doesn’t know how virtual homeschooling works and admitted she hasn’t read the recent headline coverage on it.
- She hasn’t been following the cuts to higher education research grants enough.
- She dodged the question about whether the Legislature is underfunding schools, saying she didn’t have an answer.
- She doesn’t know if schools are serving more students with disabilities than ever before.
- When asked about school funding formula reform, she said she’d just hire someone— she’s not an expert.

“These are not obscure policy details– these are the core issues facing Wisconsin schools,” said Jorna Taylor, campaign manager for Underly for Wisconsin. “And with the U.S. Department of Education being dismantled by the Trump Administration and over $1 billion in federal funding for our schools on the line, now is not the time for on-the-job training.”
As Jill Underly said during last week’s debate:
“I don’t think Ms. Kinser fully understands how public education works in Wisconsin.“
And every day on the campaign trail, Brittany Kinser proves Jill’s point.
“I was a lobbyist” and “I was proud to be a lobbyist.”
No plan for kids. No answers for schools. But proud to be a lobbyist. That says it all.
