Work to resume on WIS 32 (N. Lake Drive) reconstruction project in Milwaukee

Beginning Friday, February 28, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will resume work along WIS 32 (N. Lake Drive) in the city of Milwaukee, between E. Newberry Boulevard and E. Edgewood Avenue.

What to Expect

Stage 1: Completed in 2024

  • Reconstruct WIS 32 (N. Lake Drive) between E. Edgewood Avenue and E. Kenwood Boulevard

Stage 2: February 28 – summer 2025

  • Reconstruct WIS 32 (N. Lake Drive) between E. Newberry Boulevard and E. Kenwood Boulevard

Traffic Impacts and Detours

WIS 32 (N. Lake Drive) will be closed to through traffic within the work zone. One lane of southbound traffic will be maintained for residential access only.

  • Motorists using Lincoln Memorial Drive are encouraged to use Kenwood Boulevard, Oakland Avenue, and Hampton Road to get around the closure.
  • WIS 32 motorists are encouraged to use North Avenue, Oakland Avenue, and Hampton Road to get around the closure.

A.W. Oakes and Son, Inc. is the prime contractor for the $8.77 million contract. Construction on this project began in July 2024 and is scheduled for completion in summer 2025. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
