Senator Melissa Ratcliff Statement on Governor Evers’ Budget Address

By - Feb 18th, 2025 08:10 pm

Wisconsin State Senator Melissa Ratcliff (D-Cottage Grove) released the following statement in response to Governor Tony Evers’ 2025-2027 Biennial Budget Address:

“Budgets are more than numbers and dollar signs: they are about values and priorities. Tonight, Governor Evers outlined a fiscally responsible budget focused on so many of the issues the people of Wisconsin have told us, time and again, matter most to them: access to safe and affordable child care, lowering costs and taxes, improving our public schools, investing in mental health services, supporting our farmers, reducing exposure to dangerous contaminants in our water, and making health care more affordable.

Now the Legislature’s work on the budget begins. I am optimistic, and perhaps it is a case of hope over experience, that we can come together to find bi-partisan agreement in some areas. Our constituents expect that, Wisconsin children and families are counting on us, and our future depends on us finding ways to work together to move Wisconsin forward.”
