Brewers Sign Left-handed Pitcher Tyler Alexander

Agrees to One-Year Contract

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have signed left-handed pitcher Tyler Alexander to a one-year contract. To make room on the 40-man roster, left-handed pitcher Robert Gasser was placed on the 60-day injured list. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold.

Alexander, 30, has pitched six seasons in the Major Leagues with Detroit (2019-23) and Tampa Bay (2024) and has gone 17-28 with a 4.55 ERA in 143 games, including 52 starts. Known for his control, he has just 98 walks in 449.0 career innings pitched (1.96 BB/9IP).

Alexander went 6-5 with a 5.10 ERA in 23 games (9 starts) with the Rays last season as he set career highs for innings pitched (107.2), strikeouts (90) and wins. He pitched at least 3.0 innings in 13 of his 14 relief appearances, including 4.0 innings or more 11 times. He ended the season with 10.1 consecutive scoreless innings with 9.1 innings coming over his last two outings, both starts.

Alexander was selected by Detroit in the second round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Texas Christian University.
