MILWAUKEE – Alexander Kostal proudly announces that the Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association (MTEA), which is made up of more than 5,600 public education workers, has voted to endorse his candidacy for the Milwaukee Common Council District 3 Special Election.

MTEA President Ingrid Walker-Henry issued the following statement announcing Kostal’s endorsement:

“MTEA is proud to endorse candidates who are proven champions of MPS students, workers and families. The candidates our members have endorsed have each demonstrated a sincere commitment to advocate for the great public schools Milwaukee children deserve.

MTEA is made up of more than 5,600 public education workers who do everything in our power to provide Milwaukee children with a safe, enriching and equitable public education. We are on the frontline every day fighting to protect our students from forces that seek to harm their public schools by defrauding, closing and privatizing them.

We offer our full endorsement to candidates who understand and respect the challenges public school workers, students and families face every day and who promise to fight alongside us in that mission.”

Following the endorsement, Kostal said “The stability and success of our community depends on having a strong public education system. As a Milwaukee Public Schools graduate and lifelong supporter of public education, I will fight to strengthen and defend our public schools, and to stop the growing threat of privatization they face. Milwaukee’s children have a bright future thanks to the work of the thousands of hardworking education professionals that make up MTEA. I am tremendously proud to have earned the endorsement of MTEA, especially during an eight-way primary. As your Alderman, I will fight tirelessly for our community’s children.
