Fincantieri ACE Marine Joins DNR’s Green Tier Program
As a Tier 1 participant, FAM will undertake the development and implementation of an environmental management system within the coming year.
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced that Fincantieri ACE Marine (FAM) was accepted into Tier 1 of the Green Tier program.
Green Tier is a voluntary program for businesses, local governments and organizations committed to going above and beyond compliance to improve their environmental performance and impact. Green Tier empowers organizations that are on the path to sustainability by requiring them to use a systematic approach to increase efficiency and minimize environmental risk.
Tier 1 of Green Tier encourages, recognizes and rewards companies committed to superior environmental performance. As a Tier 1 participant, FAM will undertake the development and implementation of an environmental management system within the coming year.
“In 2022, FAM became the first Wisconsin company to join Green Marine, a voluntary environmental certification program for North American maritime businesses. The DNR warmly welcomes FAM into the Wisconsin’s Green Tier program in January 2025 and looks forward to partnering with them going forward,” said Connie Antonuk, DNR Secretary’s Director for Northeast Wisconsin. “FAM demonstrates leadership and commitment to the environment by joining Green Tier. We look forward to working with FAM to leverage the economic and environmental benefits of their environmental management system and further reduce their footprint.”
FAM, located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, is part of the Fincantieri Marine Group, a United States division of the Italian enterprise Fincantieri, one of the world’s largest shipbuilders. ACE Marine is internationally recognized for innovative and highly efficient, modular, sub-assembly and assembly-line manufacturing techniques, specializing in designing and constructing high-performance aluminum vessels. With a strong emphasis on innovation and quality, the company serves both commercial and government sectors, delivering versatile watercraft that meet the highest safety, durability and performance standards.
FAM has a long-standing relationship with the United States Navy and Coast Guard for vessel construction. The facility on the Fox River is equipped with advanced production and outfitting capabilities, enabling the efficient construction of complex vessels. This state-of-the-art plant features climate-controlled workshops, cutting-edge welding technologies and a robust testing area. The facility supports FAM’s ability to fabricate a wide range of vessels, including Response Boat-Medium crafts for the U.S. Coast Guard and other aluminum patrol boats for law enforcement and security applications.
“FAM is committed to improving our environmental performance. We are excited to partner with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and join Green Tier. Our goal is to improve efficiency, increase visibility to our efforts and obtain ISO 14001 certification,” stated D’Onne Murray, Quality Systems Coordinator at Fincantieri ACE Marine.
