The Gordon Park Friends and Riverwest Radio (104.1) are hosting a candidates’ forum for the District 3 alderperson’s seat, moderated by the League of Women’s Voters. This will take place at the Gordon Park Pavilion on Tuesday, February 4th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF MILWAUKEE ALDERPERSONS
A Milwaukee Alderperson is a legislator and district administrator who represents the citizens of their district. They are responsible for shaping city policy and ensuring that their district receives the services it needs.
Responsibilities –
- Policymaking: Alderpersons work to shape city policy, including adopting ordinances and resolutions.
- Budgeting: Alderpersons approve the city’s annual budget.
- Taxation: Alderpersons enact appropriation and tax levy ordinances.
- District administration: Alderpersons are responsible to the citizens in their districts for city services their district receives.
- Constituent relations: Alderpersons meet with their constituents and speak for their interests.
