Esteemed Global Affairs Expert Gisèle Yasmeen Joins Milwaukee-Based ECE’s Board of Directors

Milwaukee — Jan. 15, 2025 —Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. welcomed its newest board member, Gisèle Yasmeen, on January 1.

Yasmeen is a global fellow at the Wilson Center in Washington, D.C., providing nonpartisan research and analysis to policymakers. In her previous roles as associate vice president, international, at the University of Ottawa and senior fellow at the University of British Columbia’s Institute of Asian Research, Yasmeen shared her expertise on food security through published works, ongoing consultancy and media commentary. A former French and English-language radio columnist for Canadian Broadcasting Corp. and Radio-Canada, Yasmeen is regularly asked to collaborate on food and agriculture topics as well as higher education resources.

“Gisèle excels at forging lasting partnerships and a strong global network across the higher education and government sectors,” said ECE President Stacy Riley. “She’s a natural connector with more than 20 years of multicultural collaboration and data analysis. We’re incredibly lucky to have her.”

In addition to holding multiple advisory roles, Yasmeen currently serves as a board member for the Council of Canadian Academies and the Margaret A. Gilliam Institute for Global Food Security of McGill University in Canada. The seasoned researcher has a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, a master’s from McGill and a Bachelor of Arts Honours from the University of Ottawa.

“I am driven by the power of international connectedness and understanding,” said Yasmeen. “ECE’s reach is unlimited; they are a critical resource for global students and professionals. It seems fitting to start the new year by empowering people to make the future they envision a reality.”

Interim Co-Chair Kavita Pandit departed ECE in December. The team is grateful for the knowledge, inspiration and insight she brought to the organization. Current ECE Board Member Kris Olds has assumed the role of board chair and will work alongside Yasmeen to continue to advise ECE with diverse perspectives and immeasurable skills in education, business and non-profit work.

Board members typically serve three-year terms and may serve up to six consecutive years.
