Starting at $17.13 per hour, Milwaukee County Parks offers competitive pay for lifeguards, with added incentives for those who join our early training sessions. To further sweeten the deal, recruits who pass the test and commit to the Lifeguard Corps in January and February will be automatically entered into a drawing to win a $50 gift card. More exciting incentives will be announced soon.

To ensure all our lifeguards are fully prepared, we have arranged the following training sessions:

Training Schedule for the 2025 Season

  • Session 2: February 4 – February 20, Pulaski Pool, with the exam on February 22
  • Session 3: February 25 – March 13, Noyes Pool, with the exam on March 15
  • Session 4: March 31 – April 16, Pulaski Pool, with the exam on April 19

IMPORTANT: Please note that the in-water exam is mandatory for all recruits. Those who pass this initial test will proceed to Emergency Medical Responder Training, equipping them with the essential skills to handle any situation effectively.

Each summer, our lifeguards play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our community members. We provide comprehensive training and competitive benefits because we value the dedication and hard work of our team.”

“Working at our Milwaukee County Parks is a great way to become more engaged in the community, while earning a paycheck at the same time,” added Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. “Milwaukee County needs more lifeguards during the summer months to keep our pools and aquatic spaces safe, fun, and accessible for all. That’s why I’m encouraging young people to apply for the upcoming lifeguard class and join our amazing team at Milwaukee County Parks!”

Being a lifeguard provides essential skills that support career goals in any field, particularly in leadership, communication, teamwork, public relations, and self-confidence. Lifeguarding also offers a hands-on introduction to medical field work, thanks to extensive First Responder training and real-world experience interacting with the public.
