Baldwin Announces $5.7 Million for Western Tech to Increase Access to Good-Paying, In-Demand Careers in Advanced Manufacturing
Baldwin fought to fund the program in latest government funding bill
LA CROSSE, WI – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) is announcing that Western Technical College, in collaboration with eight other colleges from the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS), will receive over $5.7 million to help students prepare for good-paying, in-demand careers in advanced manufacturing. The grant will be used to expand training capacity, skill development, and credentialing within advanced manufacturing programs.
The funding comes through the Department of Labor’s Strengthening Community Colleges Training Grants program, which Senator Baldwin recently voted to fund through the bipartisan 2024 government funding bill.
Last year, Senator Baldwin helped secure a $5 million Strengthening Community Colleges Training Grant for Chippewa Valley Technical College to expand access to education and training for good-paying jobs in health care and address the health care workforce shortage in rural Wisconsin.
