MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired right-handed pitcher Blake Holub (HA-lub) from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for outfielder/first baseman Mark Canha. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold.
Holub, who turned 25 on Oct. 23, was selected by Detroit in the 15th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft out of St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX. Last season, his second in professional baseball, he went 6-4 with a 3.03 ERA and 8 saves in 48 relief appearances between Class-A West Michigan (18g) and Double-A Erie (30g), holding opponents to a .226 batting average with 76 strikeouts in 65.1 innings pitched while posting a 1.07 WHIP.
Canha, who turns 35 on Feb. 15, had a club option for 2024.
