Statement on the Assembly’s passage of AB 245
Common Council President José G. Pérez May 18, 2023
The passage of AB 245 in the Assembly yesterday is an important moment in the Legislature’s path to finding a better way to provide much-needed funding for local governments across Wisconsin. However, I believe the job is not finished as the legislation heads to the Senate. In my view, this is certainly not the end.
We appreciate the efforts the Assembly has made thus far, but, as with any negotiation, I am optimistic that we will see additional improvements. I look forward to moving on to the next phase and achieving an even better outcome for our great city, which has the state’s most diverse population and is the economic engine of Wisconsin.
