Fitzgerald, House Republicans Pass H.R. 1, Lower Energy Costs Act

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, House Republicans passed H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, bipartisan legislation to increase American energy production, fix our broken permitting process, reverse Biden’s anti-energy policies, streamline energy infrastructure and exports, and boost the production and processing of critical minerals.

Under Biden, energy prices have experienced severe turbulence as a result of his anti-American energy agenda and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Further, illogical regulations, harmful to critical mineral production, have increased our reliance on China at a time we must decouple our supply chains from the country in the interest of our national security.

Wisconsinites understand the damaging impact of President Biden’s energy policies. One of the first actions he took upon entering office was to cancel construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, eliminating hundreds of jobs in Southeast Wisconsin and increasing our reliance on adversarial nations for oil.

This legislation unleashes the full power of American energy and minerals by eliminating burdensome permitting requirements, creating jobs, fostering innovation, and pursuing an all-of-the-above strategy.
