Milwaukee County Seeking Residents’ Input on Climate Change

Results from online survey will inform climate action plan for County government operations

By - Jan 4th, 2023 09:55 am

MILWAUKEE, WI – Milwaukee County invites county residents to participate in a brief, online survey to help guide our ongoing climate work. The survey is available in English, Spanish, and Hmong and is open now through January 31, 2023.

Survey results will directly inform Milwaukee County’s Climate Action 2050 Plan for county government operations. This bold plan will serve as a roadmap for Milwaukee County to:

  • Achieve carbon neutrality, or zero net emissions, in Milwaukee County operations by 2050;
  • Improve the resiliency of county operations and the community to climate change; and,
  • Align Milwaukee County’s climate initiatives with its Vision to become the healthiest county in Wisconsin by achieving racial equity.

“Climate change impacts everyone, but especially our most vulnerable communities,” said County Executive David Crowley. “Milwaukee County is committed to incorporating equity into our climate strategy, and we can’t do that without your voice.”

The Climate Action 2050 Plan is being guided by Milwaukee County’s Sustainability Task Force, whose meetings are open to the public. Later this year, the Task Force will review the survey results along with data on Milwaukee County’s climate vulnerability and emissions impacts.
