MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers today announced a pair of executive appointments with Marti Wronski named Chief Operating Officer and Jason Hartlund promoted to Executive Vice President – Chief Commercial Officer. The announcement was made by Brewers President – Business Operations Rick Schlesinger.

“We are fortunate to have a profound depth of expertise, leadership and talent in Marti and Jason,” Schlesinger said. “Both individuals have a demonstrated track record of consistent achievements in their respective fields and provide strong leadership skills across a wide range of our business disciplines. We are appreciative of their dedication to the organization, look forward to their contributions in expanded roles and offer congratulations on their deserved promotions.”

Wronski’s promotion marks the first time the Milwaukee Brewers front office has named a woman to the post of Chief Operating Officer, a position that has not been filled since Schlesinger was promoted in 2018. Wronski will also be the highest-ranking female executive for the Milwaukee Brewers since Wendy Selig-Prieb served as president and chairman. The promotion places Wronski amongst an elite set of female executive leaders in Major League Baseball. She is currently the only female executive leader to hold the Chief Operating Officer title for a Major League Baseball Club (two other teams have women who serve as president of business operations).

Wronski will celebrate her 20th season with the Brewers in 2023. Previously General Counsel and Senior Vice President – Administration, Wronski oversees the legal, information technology and human resources departments and, as general counsel, all the organization’s legal affairs, governmental relations and compliance. In her expanded role, Wronski will assume responsibility for the business analytics and strategy team.

“I have had the opportunity to be part of significant organizational growth as well as the establishment of an exceptional culture of excellence at the Milwaukee Brewers. I’m proud of what our team has accomplished and am confident that we will build upon our success,” Wronski said. “I am excited to take on new challenges and continue to work with our dedicated Executive Team to creatively evolve our business practices and empower our people to contribute to the Brewers ongoing successes. I’m grateful for the tremendous opportunities the Brewers have provided me throughout my career and aim to continue in my efforts to champion aspiring women in the sports industry – and at the Milwaukee Brewers.”

Prior to joining the Brewers, Wronski was a member of the Marquette University Law School faculty, where she continues to act as an adjunct professor for both the law school and MBA programs. In addition, she served as a litigation associate at Foley and Lardner, LLP from 1997-2001. A native of Neenah, Wisconsin, Wronski graduated summa cum laude from St. Norbert College in 1994 and from the University of Wisconsin Law School with honors in 1997. She also received an honorary doctorate from St. Norbert College in 2015, after serving on its board of trustees.

During her tenure with the Brewers, Wronski was named a “Woman of Influence” by the Milwaukee Business Journal, was named to the Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” list, and as a “Top Corporate Counsel” member.  Wronski also received the Joseph E. O’Neill Award from Marquette University Law School, which is given to an individual in the sports industry who has made a significant contribution to the field while exemplifying the highest ethical standards. Wronski has served on several community boards in the Milwaukee area, including Betty Brinn Children’s Museum, and is a close friend of Make-A-Wish Wisconsin.

Hartlund is in his 16th year with the Brewers over two separate stints. He oversees ticket sales and services, suite sales, partnership sales and activation, special events, concerts, and business development for the organization. In his new role, Hartlund will add consumer marketing to his areas of oversight. Hartlund’s new role at the Milwaukee Brewers is the first in the team’s front office to have oversight of all revenue generating initiatives, marketing and social media.

“Our highest priority is to create the best value, experience and engagement opportunities for all Milwaukee Brewers stakeholders – our fans, corporate partners, season seat holders, suiteholders and community partners,” Hartlund said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to continue this work with our talented team, building on our strong relationships with partners and fans alike.”

Hartlund has decades of experience in the sports industry with expertise in revenue generation and sponsorship. In his tenure at the Milwaukee Brewers he has been part of many of the Club’s most significant accomplishments, including negotiating the American Family Insurance naming rights deal. Hartlund’s been on the forefront of creating new revenue streams, such as the recent opening of X-Golf at American Family Field, the Brew City Battle when the UW-Badgers Men and Women’s Basketball teams took the court against Stanford and K-State, respectively, and securing top billing artists across all music genres to perform at the ballpark.
