Garden District ushers in the holiday season with multiple events this week
The 13th Aldermanic District – also known as the Garden District – will celebrate the holiday season with multiple events taking place this week. The annual district tree lighting and Winter Wonderland display will kick-off the festivities on Tuesday, November 29 at the intersection of 6th and Norwich, one block south of Howard. The program will begin at 6 p.m. and feature caroling by area schools with the tree lighting at 7 p.m. Free cookies and hot chocolate will be available while supplies last. This year’s special guests for the annual tree lighting are Mayor Cavalier Johnson and Police Chief Jeffrey Norman. The Winter Wonderland display of lights features 50,000 lights, and will remain in-place throughout the holiday season.
The Songs of the Season event will take place on Saturday, December 3 also at 6th and Norwich. Caroling will begin at 4:30 p.m. Song lyric books will be provided at the event, as will hot chocolate and cookies.
