Update comes ahead of the 2022-23 school year
MILWAUKEE (July 28, 2022) – Milwaukee Public Schools announced tonight updates to the district’s COVID-19 mask wearing policy during the July monthly meeting with the Milwaukee Board of School Directors. Effective immediately, the district will transition to mandatory mask wearing only when COVID-19 community levels in Milwaukee County are designated as high. COVID-19 community levels will be monitored by the district on a weekly basis. If COVID-19 levels drop to medium or low, MPS will transition to optional mask wearing. The CDC updates its COVID-19 Community Levels data on Thursdays.
