Criminal Charges Issued Against Individual Involved Stolen Auto Documentary
MILWAUKEE, WI – On June 16, 2022, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office issued criminal charges against Markell S. Hughes. Hughes was identified as one of the individuals that was featured on a YouTube documentary regarding a group of notorious car thieves that engage in reckless driving putting everyone’s live at risk. The video shows an incident that occurred on May 17, 2022 on the 3600 block of W. Courtland Avenue.
Hughes was charged with one count of Drive or Operate a Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent, one count of First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, one count of Obstructing an Officer and one count of Felony Bail Jumping. If convicted, he could face up 22 years, 9 months in prison and fined up to $55,000.
The Milwaukee Police Department appreciates all the information we have received from the community regarding this investigation. We are proud of all the hard work of our members that have been diligently working on identifying the individuals involved in criminal activity in the video.
