MPS partners with Marquette, MATC, GMDA to offer free dental exams for Head Start students
'Dental Day' set for Saturday, October 4 at MU Dental School
MILWAUKEE (September 29, 2014) – Head Start students in Milwaukee can receive free dental exams October 4 thanks to a partnership involving Milwaukee Public Schools, Marquette University, Milwaukee Area Technical College and the Greater Milwaukee Dental Association.

“Head Start Dental Day” is set for Saturday, October 4 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at Marquette’s Dental School, 1801 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee 53233. The dental exams will include cleaning, a complimentary toothbrush and fluoride treatments.
MPS Head Start prepares 3- and 4-year-old children to succeed in school through high-quality half- or full-day educational programming as well as supporting families with physical and mental health services, dental care, disability services and social services.
In addition to individualized educational experiences, students receive a daily breakfast or snack and lunch along with family resources and opportunities for family involvement.
Saturday’s Head Start Dental Day is highly encouraged for those Head Start families whose children have not yet had their dental screening this year. Dentists are available to provide urgent care as necessary. Local HMOs will be on-site to assist families in locating their assigned dental providers.
MPS Head Start serves more than 1,300 children in the city at 23 sites. Families must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify. Interested families are welcome to contact MPS’ Head Start office. The office is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at MPS Central Services, 5225 W. Vliet Street, Room 9, Milwaukee 53208.
