In keeping with its mission to meet the travel needs of all residents, Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) announces that it will introduce two new express routes offering service to the New Berlin and Menomonee Falls Industrial Parks. These new routes, along with schedule changes to several routes, will become effective Sunday, August 24, 2014.

Route 6 (New Berlin Industrial Park Express) and Route 279 (Menomonee Falls Industrial Park Express) are made possible because of a settlement agreement between representatives from the Milwaukee Inner-City Congregation Allied for Hope and Black Health Coalition of Wisconsin with the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation. These new routes will connect more residents to jobs and also improve mobility by providing new transit alternatives during the four year reconstruction of the Zoo Interchange.

  • Route 6 (New Berlin Industrial Park Express) – will travel from Port Washington & Capitol Drive along Capitol Drive, 108th Street, Bluemound Road, and Moorland Road to New Berlin.
  • Route 279 (Menomonee Falls Industrial Park Express) –  will primarily travel along Fond Du Lac Avenue from 35th Street to the Park Place business park and then on to the Menomonee Falls business park.

Routes 6 and 279 will make stops at transfer corners before making local stops at business parks. Schedules will be primarily designed to serve shift times at major employers. Informational signs will be posted.

MCTS bus schedules change up to four times a year to accommodate regular seasonal adjustments. In addition to being the launch date for Routes 6 and 279, August 24 is also the date for changes affecting the following routes: 10 (Humboldt-Wisconsin), 12 (Teutonia-Hampton), 14 (Forest Home), 15 (Holton-Kinnickinnic), 17 (Canal Street), 21 (North Avenue), 27 (27th Street), 30 (Sherman-Wisconsin), 31 (State-Highland), 35 (35th Street), 44 (National Flyer), 44U (Fair Park-Hale Corners UBUS), 46 (Loomis-Southridge Flyer), 51 (Oklahoma Avenue), 53 (Lincoln Avenue), 54 (Mitchell-Burnham), 57 (Walnut-N. 92nd), 60 (Burleigh Street), 62 (Capitol Drive), 67 (N. 76th-S. 84th), 76 (N. 60th – S. 70th), 80 (6th Street), 85 (Whitman-West), 87 (Nathan Hale) and 88 (Cudahy).  Customers are encouraged to check buses on August 20 for new schedules, call the 24 hour automated bus information line at 414-344-6711 or view a preview online at RideMCTS.com starting on August 15.
