MPD Officer Involved Shooting
MILWAUKEE, WI – On Monday, August 16, 2021, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Milwaukee Police officers were dispatched to a subject with gun incident on the 2500 block of N. 27th Street. The caller stated an individual had a gun and was pointing it at people.
Upon arrival, officers encountered an armed individual and gave him commands to drop the gun. The individual refused to drop his gun and discharged his firearm. Three officers discharged their firearms, subsequently striking the individual. Officers administrated life-saving measures; however, the suspect, a 42-year-old Milwaukee man, was pronounced deceased on scene. No one else was injured as a result of the gunfire. The suspect’s firearm was recovered.
The officers involved in this incident are a 32-year-old male officer with over 4 years of service, a 26-year-old male officer with over 5 years of service and a 29-year-old male officer with over 5 years of service. They were placed on administrative duty as is routine in an officer involved shooting.
This is an ongoing investigation. The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team will be investigating this incident. The Wauwatosa Police Department will be the lead law enforcement agency in the investigation.
