Brewers Acquire Righty Reliever John Curtiss from Marlins
Send Catcher Payton Henry to Miami
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired right-handed pitcher John Curtiss from the Miami Marlins in exchange for catcher Payton Henry. The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations David Stearns.
Curtiss, 28, is 3-1 with a 2.48 ERA in 35 games (3 starts) with Miami this season. He is holding opponents to a .227 batting average with 40 strikeouts in 40.0 innings pitched. He has a 1.08 WHIP. Over his last 16 appearances, Curtiss has posted a 1.00 ERA along with a 0.89 WHIP (18ip, 10h, 3r, 2er, 6bb, 15k).
Henry, 24, was selected by Milwaukee in the sixth round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft. At Double-A Biloxi (30g) and Triple-A Nashville (19g) this season, he was batting .297 with 2 HR and 19 RBI in 49 games
