Wisconsin Tomorrow Small Business Recovery Grant program now available for local businesses

Applications are now being accepted for the Wisconsin Tomorrow Small Business Recovery Grant program. The program will award $420 million to small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and is intended to support businesses that were hardest hit by the pandemic and are key to Wisconsin making a strong recovery. The program is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue in collaboration with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and is funded with money received from the federal government through the American Rescue Plan Act.

Common Council President Cavalier Johnson encourages local business owners to take advantage of this grant opportunity as well as other local options that exist. “As we continue to emerge from the pandemic it is crucial that businesses receive the support needed to bounce back stronger than ever, and this program, along with other local options, represent tremendous opportunities to do just that,” said President Johnson.

President Johnson noted that nearly 60 local businesses in the 2^nd Aldermanic District he represents were recipients of the City’s Milwaukee Restart Grant program, and while Restart funding is no longer available, the Department of City Development has funds available through efforts such as Signage, Facade, Whitebox and Retail Investment Fund programs.           Applications for the Wisconsin Tomorrow Small Business Recovery Grant program will be accepted through 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 7. The grants will provide as many as 84,000 Wisconsin small businesses with annual gross revenue between $10,000 and $7 million with a flat award of $5,000.
