Check in on your neighbors to help keep our community safe
Statement of Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic May 25, 2021
Last night two armed individuals entered two homes in Bay View that resulted in stolen valuables and cars. The Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) is working diligently to apprehend those responsible for these crimes.
As the weather warms and activity throughout our district and city increases, we must all take extra precautions to ensure the safety of ourselves, our loved ones and our neighbors. To create less opportunity for theft make sure your windows are closed and locked, always make sure the entrances of your home are locked even if you are home, and consider enhancements such as extra lighting, door cameras or other security measures to deter intruders.
I’d also encourage area residents to attend the MPD District 6 Crime and Safety Meeting taking place tomorrow (Wednesday, May 26) at 6 p.m. The meeting will occur outdoors at the MPD Horse Stables located 143 E. Lincoln Avenue.
This will be an opportunity for residents to meet Acting Captain Glidewell, ask any questions, and enter a raffle to obtain a free Ring door camera. I hope you can make it.
