Representative Snodgrass Commends, Supports Governor Evers Small Business Commitment
APPLETON – Today, Governor Tony Evers announced that $2.5 billion from the American Rescue Plan will be invested in economic recovery in Wisconsin, $600 million of which will go to support small businesses. In Milwaukee today, the Governor vetoed Senate Bill 183, preserving the ability to direct the federal relief funds quickly and effectively.
Rep. Snodgrass issued the following statement:
“This past year Fox Valley small businesses and their employees across the state have faced devastating hardships and economic challenges as a global health crisis brought its impact to our community. Businesses showed courage, creativity and grit as they did their best to meet the challenges of the moment and keep their workforce whole. We know that it is the main street Mom & Pop’s that are the heart of our state’s economy and have the heart of our local community. I am excited that Governor Evers both recognizes the role of Wisconsin’s small businesses to keep the economy going and is invested in providing the additional financial support they need through the allocation of these funds via the American Rescue Plan.
Robin Janson, co-owner of Urban Evolutions, an Appleton-based material design company added the following:
“We are thrilled that Governor Evers has announced another $600 million for small main street businesses including those right here in the Fox Valley. Many folks have worked hard, long hours this year to survive, keep staff employed and the community safe. Those smaller, main street businesses did not cause the pandemic and we owe it to them to provide additional support to get through it. Our business is doing fine, largely because of the industry we are in but local restaurants, bars, event venues and businesses founded in 2020 still need help. I am glad we have a Governor who is in their corner.”
Rep. Snodgrass is the Assembly Representative in the 57th District which includes parts of Appleton, Menasha and the Village of Fox Crossing.
