MATC Announces New Board Appointments and Officers

MILWAUKEE (Aug. 21, 2020) — The Milwaukee Area Technical College District Board Appointment Committee appointed three individuals to volunteer positions on the MATC District Board. The appointments, which were approved by the Wisconsin Technical College System Board, run from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2023.

The MATC Board has the responsibility to ensure that MATC is meeting its commitment in increasing the potential and productivity of the people in the district through the development and delivery of high-quality educational programs consistent with current and emerging educational and labor market needs.

The following individuals were appointed:

David Mitchell, president of Lift Products, Inc., in Waukesha, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Borgman Capital, LLC; headquartered in Milwaukee. Mitchell lives in Glendale. He was appointed to the employer (15+ employees) classification.

Nithakone “Nikki” Moews, human resources director at Pioneer Resources LP in Franklin. Moews resides in Greendale. She was appointed in the employer (15+ employees that is a manufacturer) classification.

Lisa Olson, superintendent of the Whitnall School District in Greenfield, who also resides in Greenfield, was reappointed to serve in the school district administrator classification. Olson was first appointed to the MATC Board in 2017.

The Appointment Committee members included: Teig Whaley-Smith, substitute chair for then Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele; Theodore Lipscomb, Sr., then Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors chairperson; Donald Kriefall, Washington County Board of Supervisors chairperson; and Lee Schlenvogt, Ozaukee County Board chairperson.

The MATC Board elected the following officers to one-year terms at the Board Organizational Meeting in July.

Mark F. Foley, attorney, von Briesen & Roper. S.C., Milwaukee, was elected chairperson. Lisa Olson, superintendent, Whitnall School District, Greenfield, was elected vice-chairperson. Citlali Mendieta-Ramos, owner/director of special events, Antigua Latin Restaurant, LLC, was elected secretary. Kahri Phelps Okoro, operations manager, Equity Supply Group, Milwaukee, was selected as treasurer.

Wisconsin’s largest technical college and one of the most diverse two-year institutions in the Midwest, Milwaukee Area Technical College is a key driver of southeastern Wisconsin’s economy and has provided innovative education in the region since 1912.
