On Giving Tuesday, Imagine MKE encourages support of Milwaukee’s arts organizations and artists

(December 1) – Today, December 1, is Giving Tuesday – a global movement of generosity in support of those whose work transforms communities. To encourage strong support of Milwaukee’s arts and culture sector on #GivingTuesday, Imagine MKE has put together a hub of more than 15 campaigns that Milwaukee-based arts organizations are raising funds for today. They are located at www.imaginemke.org/GivingTuesday.

The page offers an easy way to explore the work of organizations individuals may not already be familiar with, and give big in honor of the day. Organizations featured include Arts at Large, ArtWorks, Bel Canto, The Constructivists, Danceworks, First Stage, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, Milwaukee Film, Milwaukee Opera Theatre, Milwaukee Rep, Pink Umbrella Theater Company, Present Music, 53212 Presents, 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, Wild Space Dance Company, and Wisconsin Conservatory of Music.

Said David Lee, CEO of Imagine MKE, “Milwaukee’s arts organizations have the power to transform our city – fostering connection, providing inspiration, and sparking change. They are always deserving of all of our support, but boosting them up right now is especially important. Exploring their campaigns in one spot allows donors to give to organizations they both already love, and those they might not be familiar with. Your giving today will support work that is helping to combat isolation, provide joy, employ artists, support young people, and more.”

Imagine MKE also encourages donations to their Holiday Artist Relief Fund today at www.imaginemke.org/ArtistRelief in support of our city’s artists who continue to be unable to return to earning from their practice due to COVID-19. Imagine MKE is working towards a goal of $100,000K to support 200 artists in December. Over $63,000 is already raised, thanks to Bader Philanthropies; the Black Box Fund; and a $40,000 grant from an anonymous donor as part of the Upper Midwest Emergency Relief Fund coalition, in partnership with Arts South Dakota, Crosshatch Center for Art & Ecology, CultureSource, Racing Magpie, Springboard for the Arts, and The Arts Partnership.
