Jewish Community Relations Council Joins B.U.S.S. for Southridge Mall Safety

The members of B.U.S.S. are pleased to partner with the Jewish Federation.

The Jewish Community Relations Council of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation has joined the B.U.S.S. (Bus Users Safety at Southridge) Coalition. The members of B.U.S.S. are pleased to partner with the Jewish Federation in working toward fair access for all members of the community who rely on public transit at Southridge Mall, including the elderly, physically impaired and veterans with disabilities.

There are many problems associated with the move of the bus stop from the mall entrance to a location 1,000 feet from the doors.

The danger to customers who ride the bus is apparent: there are no sidewalks or designated walking paths, it is difficult for persons with physical limitations to navigate that distance uphill, there is a lack of proper lighting during evening and night hours, and streets may be poorly shoveled and treated during winter.

The mission of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation is to ensure the continuity of the Jewish people, to enhance the quality of Jewish life, and to build a strong and unified Jewish community in Milwaukee, in Israel and throughout the world.

“The Jewish Community Relations Council of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation is a valuable addition to B.U.S.S.,” said Milwaukee County Supervisor Pat Jursik, who organized B.U.S.S. “The Jewish Federation fights for equal treatment for everyone, and their support shows increasingly diverse support for B.U.S.S. and its mission of ensuring that everyone is treated fairly. ”
