Wisconsin counties will receive a total of $9,099,563 in state funds to help complete 41 county highway improvement projects. The funds are administered through the County Highway Improvement Discretionary (CHID) program by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT).

CHID provides state funds for high-cost county highway improvement projects totaling $250,000 or more in total eligible costs. Statewide, the 41 projects carry an approximate $41.8 million price tag. The CHID program can provide up to 50 percent reimbursement of total project eligible costs, depending on available funds and the total amount of awards granted. Road improvements typically involve reconstruction or major resurfacing, and must be designed to last at least 10 years.

Projects are selected based on recommendations from regional County Highway Improvement Program committees comprised of county highway commissioners from each region. The construction timetable for CHID projects varies; however, work must be completed in five years.

For list of projects, visit the WisDOT website: www.dot.state.wi.us/news/docs/14-15chidselections3.xlsx.
