MILWAUKEE (8/24/2020) – Running Rebels Community Organization will be celebrating 40 years of service to Milwaukee young people at the virtual EPIC Evening presented by BMO Harris Bank on October 27th at 6:00 pm. The FREE event will be a joyful celebration to mark four decades of providing guidance, love, and positive mentoring for youth in our community. As always, the EPIC Evening will feature the opportunity to hear from the young people whose lives have been dramatically impacted by Running Rebels.

For 40 years Running Rebels has supported and inspired Milwaukee young people to find their purpose and create lives of accomplishment, integrity, and contribution. The Running Rebels’ strong focus on providing committed mentors and positive role model accounts for the success of their participants. The organization serves over 2,500 young people annually through unique community-based mentoring, violence prevention, alternatives to incarceration, workforce development, arts, athletics, and leadership development.

Running Rebels also works to achieve three overarching community goals:

  1. Prevention of violence in families, neighborhoods, and the Milwaukee community.
  2. Reduction of incarceration rates among African American boys and men in Milwaukee.
  3. Development of young people of character who are engaged and contributing citizens.

“When I started Running Rebels at the age of 19, I could not have imagined it growing into an organization that has positively impacted the lives of thousands of Milwaukee youth. Professional mentoring by people who look like the youth they serve is a powerful tool to help unlock young people’s full potential.” says Running Rebels Founder and Co-Executive Director, Victor Barnett.

In addition to Presenting Sponsor, BMO Harris Bank, the EPIC Evening is being supported by MVP Sponsor: Chris Abele, Superstar Sponsor: Tabak Law, Inc, Captain Sponsors: US Bank, Weyco Group, Inc and JCP Construction as well as many additional corporate partners.
