Villard Avenue BID Launches Large-Scale Mural Project
JULY 23, 2020 – Milwaukee, WI. – The Villard Avenue Business Improvement District #19 announces “Visual Vibes on Villard”, a new large-scale mural arts project to be installed this summer on Historic Villard Avenue. “Visual Vibes on Villard” aims to celebrate the creativity, talent, and pride of the Villard community by partnering with local artists to showcase murals to be placed on Villard Avenue buildings.
Announcement of five mural sites to take place August 1, when art submissions are opened to the public. Selected mural proposals to be announced mid-August. “Visual Vibes on Villard” is an exciting opportunity bringing commerce and community together in a meaningful way. This project, funded by BID #19 with support from the (name partners) Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation’s Community Improvement Grant, is being facilitated by Wallpapered City, a local arts group.
This public art project is one of many strategies put forth by the Villard BID. The strategies include economic development, improving image and aesthetics, neighborhood promotion, and safety initiatives.
