The Wisconsin State Patrol today installed the first members of its new Chaplaincy Program. The team of 19 volunteer chaplains, who are ordained or licensed clergy, will provide counseling services for members of the State Patrol and their families. They also will assist the State Patrol with death notifications, crisis responses, and participation in official ceremonies.

“Our sworn officers and civilian staff along with their families may face great emotional challenges during crises and other stressful situations,” says State Patrol Superintendent J.D. Lind. “With their education, training and understanding of law enforcement, our chaplains will help our staff and their families meet the challenges affecting their morale and personal well- being. We are grateful that our chaplains have volunteered their time to helping members of the State Patrol and their families maintain a positive attitude and a well-balanced life.”
