Gov. Evers Appoints Milton L. Childs as Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers announced today his appointment of Milton L. Childs to serve as Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge.
Childs is currently a managing attorney with the Wisconsin State Public Defender’s Office. In his 15 years as a public defender, Childs has tried more than 150 cases to verdict.
“Mr. Childs has dedicated his life to serving others, as a Marine, teacher, state public defender, and now as judge,” said Gov. Evers. “His vast experience as a public defender and his diverse professional background will bring a valuable perspective to the bench.”
Childs, a Milwaukee native, is a graduate of Milwaukee Trade and Technical High School, Xavier University, and Marquette University Law School. Before attending law school, Childs was a math teacher for 12 years and served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve for 8 years, earning the rank of sergeant.
The appointment fills a vacancy created by the appointment of Judge Joe Donald to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.
