Brent Maher Promoted to Chief Technology Officer at Johnson Financial Group
Mark Ward Joins Company as New Chief Information Security Officer
Racine, Wisconsin. January 29, 2020. Tim Brown, Chief Information Officer at Johnson Financial Group, announced that Brent Maher has accepted the new position of Chief Technology Officer for Johnson Financial Group’s IT team. Maher will be responsible for overseeing the company’s technical architecture and infrastructure reporting directly to CIO, Tim Brown, who joined the company in mid-2019. Mark Ward has also joined the company as Johnson Financial Group’s new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
Maher most recently served as Johnson Financial Group’s Chief Information Security Officer. Joining Johnson Financial Group in 2007, he has served in various roles centered within the security and technology arenas. Prior to Johnson Financial Group, Maher worked in manufacturing, healthcare, nonprofits and consulting.

As CISO, Ward will be responsible for overseeing the company’s Information and Cyber Security programs, including strategy, risk and operations, in addition to the company’s Resiliency and Crisis Management program. Previously, Ward worked at JFG in Information Security as Director of Security Architecture, Operations and Risk. Most recently, he worked as Head of Global Information Security at Modine Manufacturing. He also spent 16 years at S.C. Johnson and Son in various roles focusing on security operations, architecture and engineering.
A native of Wisconsin, Maher graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee with a BBA in Management of Information Systems. He currently serves as a security and technology advisor for two nonprofit organizations. Additionally, he assists in cybersecurity certificate education programs as an Adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon University. He also holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credential and is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon Universities’ Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) Certificate Program.
A resident of Kenosha, Ward graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Parkside with a B.S. in Management Information Systems. He also holds the Web Master Certification, the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credential, GIAC Critical Controls Certification (GCCC), and the ITIL Certification.
